for 50 deg C ambient you can use for 1600 Amp120x10mm bar or 80x15mm; and 50x8mm for 500 amp, this will give a bar temperature rise up to 90 deg c

** Table gives busbar cross section which will probably be large enough for Ampacities within each range. Knowing required ampacity, determine possible busbar dimensions from the table. Then check Table 1 to verify that size selected has the necessary ampacity. Example: Assume that required ampacity is 185 amps at 30 °C rise. Table 2 indicates that 1/16 x 1 in. size would probably be adequate. This is confirmed by Table 1 which lists the ampacity of 1/6 x 1 in. busbar as 187 amps.

N.E.C. 366.23 (A) - 1000 amps per square inch for copper bus bar.

1.6 x 1000 =1600, bus bar size would be 1.6 square inch copper bus bar.

.5 x 1000 = 500, bus bar size would be .5 square inch copper bus bar

For a round bus bar multiply the amps x .7854. Aluminum is 700 per sq. in.

Why not. Many answers can be found by using a Google Search. An effort should be made to find the answer before posting here. I see nothing wrong in directing one to the answer to his question rather than spending time answering it on this forum.
