Can anybody tell me the formula for Calculating No. of Light Fittings inside & outside of an Industrial Plant.

Work with the designer of the plant and/or your lighting fixture vendor. They are supposed to know all of the critical attributes required to construct your plant's lighting concerns. Here is a partial list of concerns:

  • Lux level minimum for local safety code and for tasks specific to this plant
  • Height from fixtures to surfaces
  • Explosive atmosphere
  • Weather exposure
  • Backup safety lighting
  • Color temperature concerns for tasks

Your designer will also have a grasp of simple optics intensity calculations, like the inverse squared law.

Use this formual:

Average Maintained Illumination (Foot-candles) = (Lamps/Fixture x Lumens/Lamp x No. of Fixtures x Coefficient of Utilization x Light Loss Factor) ÷ Area in Square Feet
