Can IS2062 Gr B -plate flanges (FLANGE DIM. SIMILAR AS PER ASME B16.5) used for pressure vessels with Design pressure 4.4 bar / FV, & Design temp.300 deg. celsius?

IS-2062 Gr-B belongs to Steel structural materials including plates, sections etc. You can use this material upto about 350 deg.C. For design purposes at above atm. pressure you should use allowable stress as given in tables. Usually this will be about 25% of UTS or 66% of YS whichever is less for this material. Also for Full Vacuum condition you should refer ASME SEC VIII DIV.I from which you should get factor A (0.125 t/R0) using an assumed thickness t (at least equal to the t selected for higher pressure i.e. 4.4 bar in your case) & then see factor B from curves, which gives compressive stress which the vessel can stand under buckling load. Using the stress formula for hoop stress (stress=p*r/t)and the assumed thickness t you must calculate the stress at full vacuum. If this stress is less than that found as factor B the vessel is safe under vacuum. The failure of a vessel under vacuum is dependent on bucking load and not the compressive strength.
