Pumping Curve and Power KW

In general, the pumping curve should show the Head , flowrater, NPSHr , efficiency , and motor power (KW). I need to know one thing whish is the motor power shown at the pumping curve , is it the input power for the motor or the outpur power ???

If it is a pump curve then it is power required by the pump. You would then need to select a motor to match the pump power requirement.

That would be the power required at the shaft of the pump, You need to add drive losses.

Well if want to find out the power of motor all you have to do is calculate the power of pump.Use the BHP formaula to calculate the power of pump at rated head ,flow and efficiency.Once you hav calculated the BHP u can multliply it by 1.1 times API specs to select the motor.But most note that motors come in the range of following HPS 5,7.5.10....250..300..So for example if u hav pump bhp of say 6 hp u select a motor of 7.5 hp.This will be sufficent to answer ur question..

The power curve of pump shows the power required to pump the certain fluid at certain flow and certain pressure. So select the maximum power which is shown on the curve. Then include power losses from coupling, gearboxes, torque convertors etc whichever was included. Then you'll get certain power and add a safty margin in it so that whenever in future you have to uprate the pump you have margin in the motor.
