Diesel Generator Energy Savings

How do you measure energy savings on a site that is using Diesel Generators?

Er, compare the rate of diesel usage before and after the energy savings measures have been put in place?

Less consumption of fuel, less maintenance, prolonged life of engine oil/ gear oil by using condition based technic etc.
