Sun Shade Requirement for Field Instrument

02/26/2010 6:23 AM

All Instrument manufacture says their electronic components are tested for 60 deg Cekcius for two hour.In such case, the field Instruments mounted at 55 deg C ambient temperature at day time may not be required any sunshade/ canopy to protect from sun light. However providing canopy may help in long run and other chemical spillage corrosion.

Pl give your suggestion and any ref for evidence.

What is your question? Please try and be more precise. Do you want shade? Do you want protection from chemicals. Get some one to translate maybe, Ky.

If an instrument is in direct sunlight with an ambient temperature of 55°C, The instrument temperature could very easily exceed 100°C in well under an hour, just from solar radiation. All electronic devices produce at least a little heat, so even with a sunshade, this instrument could easily exceed 60° within two hours, and there went your warranty!

Obviously, I have no idea what kind of instrument you are referring to, but in my opinion, you not only need a sunshade, you also need some other form of cooling to use the instrument for more than a few minutes in a 55°C ambient, and maintain reliability.
