1998 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel - Dash Lights and Gauges Stopped Working

98 dodge ram cummins diesel, dash lights and gauges stopped working, all other lights work. checked alternator and only getting 11.65volts of charge is that unusual?? i recently changed both batteries and alternator, but the dash lights and gauges problem already existed before replacing both. what would be the first thing to check?? What are possible causes??

make sure all body/ engine ground wires are attached

Check ur ignition key for charging alternator ignition supply.

11.65v shoes the charging alternator is not working and the batteries are discharging.

Also check the ignition supply fues.

For the dash board and guages, check ur fuses or broken wire.

I recently had a similar problem with a 2004 Honda Civic. Everything worked good except my instrument panel gauges (including the odometer) and lights. I checked for loose ground wires without any luck. Ultimately, the instrument panel had to be replaced and reprogrammed. The CPU died on the original panel.
