2010 Land Rover - Relay Immobiliser Circuit

03/10/2010 5:26 AM

Where can I locate the required circuit to install a relay immobiliser that work through triggering on from an installed tracking device? The 2010 landrover jeep uses a button switch to start the ignition and engine.I have been searching for any circuit that can shut down the engine at will through the immobiliser but cant find any. Please advise .

The reason for not finding any is that in most jurisdictions, the remote shutting-down of a vehicle in motion is not lawful, even if the vehicle has been twocked, as it places the occupant(s) at risk of life and limb. The individual shutting the vehicle down remotely might be facing charges of grevious bodily harm, manslaughter or even murder as a result, for example.

This particualr immobilisation relay doesnt work like that , if triggered the vehicle will continue to be in motion , but when the engine is put off and the vehicle is about to move again it will not start the engine. This is a special type of immobilisation relay that guarentees safety.

And if the driver should stall the engine in a tight traffic situation?

On NBC they show how the police stop cars in chases, with all the harm possible risks taken. If the car stalls, call a wrecker, cars stall everywhere. If not stopping the engine, you can always throttle it down to almost stalling, and use the contact to produce a light show of warning lights to protect the driver? Is collecting DNA also forbidden?

depend what you want to cut, most of the car you can locate the wire behind the fuse box. In your case I believe you want to cut the starter not the ignition then I would locate the starter relay and cut the feed wire to the relay (pin 85 or 85 of the automotive relay) joint your immobiliser output to the wire you just cut

Good luck

Hello dgoldwaters,

This company describes several ways a car can be immobilized.

If you contact them they maybe able to help you answer your questions.

The only other company I can suggest is Brick-House they give Pros. and Cons. pertaining to GPS tracking systems such as Lojack.

Land Rover Jeep? When did Chrysler buy Land Rover, they may as well everyone else has owned it.

My condolences on buying a 2010, but that is off topic. Perhaps someone stealing it would be a favor, they have lost any sense of style. Oops off topic again.

Land Rover is very particular about what owners do to their vehicles as far as modifications during the warranty period, read none.

Best of luck with that, only Land Rover dealers have access to what you are looking for.
