Bubka,

It is all the anxiety levels of freshers, prior to interviews. whatever be one's field of expertize, the curiosity is a big bothering to people who attend personal interviews.

just leaving apart the fact that, since you are appearing for a petrochemical industry you are supposed to know basics of distillation operations, stages of organics separation, end uses, chemical reactions, temperature ranges, chemical plant engineering, safety, storage etc.

My main points of this post is going to be too simple. If you can understand this you ,can fare well in any interview.

1] believe that you are a man of reasonable basic knowledge level.

2] Those who are going to interview are just human beings with more experience than you.

3] Even if GOD is an interviewer he can not ask questions out of syllabus or field, since it is very difficult to set such questions.

4] So to be safer on the side, they also post simple basic questions to freshers like you.

5] Just brush up objective questions or at least read out your syllabus lines and recollect relevant understanding of yours- like simple definitions, relative merits, demerits.

6] Sleep well, dress well, present yourself clearly and frankly about what you know. Say don't know if you don't really know.

They will just test your basic understanding levels, presence of mind and personality values. Be casual and present yourself in a attentive, responsive, confident and relaxed manner. You will do well.

Avoid anxiety, which will disturb your presentation.

BEST WISHES.

Dear Ky,

Thank you for the G.A. Reading and gaining knowledge is a long term process. Pressurized reading will hardly leave temporary memory only. I love going to interviews with minimum preparations and present spontaneously as per situation. Only thing to take care about is to precisely understand the pulse of the interviewer. Interviews can be assumed to be like discussions[mutual] and open mindedness is very important.

Other aspects are straight eye to eye contacts and body languages. one's presence of mind and spontaneous delivery should help better and its all the thrill of the game.

s.udhayamarthandan

I would love to be interviewed by you. Your approach cuts out the slime and makes bluffing very difficult if not impossible.

There could always be the situation of being interviewed by a person 30 years my junior. This can give the senior applicant some difficulty and is another matter, more to do with fashionable behavior patterns. I haven't been in many such situations but it has happened that I over ran the interviewer and soon found that staying with him as "Head of State" in the company, would not be very constructive and friction would come into play.

I will have a meeting soon and have more or less spent the last decade on preparing for it. I know that the professor is ten Years younger than me and that he knows all about the subject (or so he thinks), so it will be more of a discussion ending in him introducing the subject to University scrutiny and hopefully investing in some lab time and hard ware.

Nowadays I am not so much after a job but cooperation and acceptance. If one has no clear goal in sight and does not know the terrain to get there, one should be prepared for rejection. Not knowing all, but keeping ones nerves, when that becomes apparent, tells the interviewer more than all boxes ticked. Good manners and a sprinkle of humor (sprinkle) can be a good lubricant, I hope.

It has been mentioned here before, that a good physical preparation, be it only a good nights sleep, will be important. I have seen people "hard read" and then take stimulating drugs to fill the empty spaces. Just not going to happen.

"spontaneous delivery should help better and its all the thrill of the game".

I could have just left it at that but couldn't resist.

Greetings, Ky.

Bottom Line they could ask anything at all!

I still remember my first interview:

The first question was "Do you own a CD player" my answer was "Yes"

The next question was "How does it work?"

I knew enough about the subject to give a plausible answer but the question still came from right out of left field!

Best thing is just to be honest and try to answer the questions as best as you can. Try not to think of it as an exam where you have to revise for. Just try to be ready for it confident, and get a good nights rest before.

Good Luck

Do Study MTO & HT They are very important subjects as per as industrial working is concerned but depending upon the position you are applying for subjects may vary.

Being a fresher they will not ask you things in depth, they will just check your attitude towards learning & adapting new things. but be prepaired with your basics.

ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR INTERVIEW

Thanks & Regards

Dear bubka,

Any body will appreciate your stand, in attempting to SUCCEED in the first attempt. It shows your commitment.

In the Interview, BE CLEAR and FIRM. If you do not know the answer, be plain to say I am not aware or I do not know. Be brief. If possible, try to get the small Book "TOUGH MINDED MANAGEMENT" in a span of 1 to 2 years it will make a good Manager.

WISH YOU GOOD LUCK.
