Testmasters Course for PE Electrical Power Exam?

03/10/2010 2:20 PM

I have been studying for the PE for the last couple of months. I got an email from Testmasters for a review for the PE that guarantees passing. My work won't pay for the course, which is $1600 and I have to take (4) vacation days, and spend (4) weekend days taking the course. I also will have to travel from Dallas to Houston and pay for lodging for myself. All that being said, does anyone know if the Testmasters course is worth it?! Of course their website has customer reviews that all say it's amazing and you cannot pass the PE without the course, but that's off their website.

Maybe you should contact: National Society of Professional Engineersand ask them.

Surely there other ways to gain the required knowledge without relying on any one particular training company. If that is their claim, I would be leery. However, if it is the claim of former clients, the clients might be correct. Think about it.

Hi IMissPLa07,

I don't know this particular organisation, but how can they offer a guarantee (unless maybe, and God forbid, there's something unethical going on)? Your money back? There is an Ethics section on the exam. Granted, they may have some good techniques, etc. The reality though is, will the breadth and depth of the training that they provide prepare you adequately? In my opinion, there are a lot of resources out there that can help you, without having to hire a "service".

There are plenty of preparatory workbooks with solved problems out there. Focus on those and make sure you can work the problems - you need to invest the time to do this.

Hey, getting fired helped me to get my PE! Granted, it wasn't my choice, but I took advantage of the time!

Have you done your FE yet? Here are some links:

For your PE, see:

Good Luck,

Mike
