I've tried to get a question answered from the supplier of a flat TV wall mount for almost three months without success. The problem(?) is that I believe that the mounting instruction (pdf found here: http://www.vogels.com/web/Consumer/Products/Products/-EFW8245-WALL-MOUNT-MOTION-MC.htm) is not correct. I worry about warranty aspects since they require that the mounting is done according to their instruction... Here's my question:

Subject: Wrong
Dear Vogels.
Today I purchased your 8245 Motion+. In the
description under point 4 "mounting in wood" there must be a mistake in the
description (please inform me if I'm wrong).
The mistake is that you show that screws to the
right must go into wood and that it's wrong if you use the left pair into wood
(assuming that only one pair could go into pure wood). The right advice must be
the opposite around.
Here's my thinking:
Two extreme situations:
1) TV parallel to the wall. The centre of mass is
to the left of the left pair of screws.
Assume upper left screw into wood and upper
right plug in gypsum. The "rotating moment" for the gypsum screw is 200mm times
the mass.
Assume upper right screw into wood and upper left
plug in gypsum. The "rotating moment" for the gypsum screw is 345mm times the
mass.
The rotating moment on the gypsum screw is the
least when the left screw is in solid wood.
2) TV perpendicular to the wall. The centre of mass
is in line with the left pair of screws = they should be mounted in the solid
material.
What do you say?
