Health and Safety at Work - A Rhyme for Today

03/17/2010 7:31 AM

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall without a harness and lanyard in flagrant breach of Health & Safety at Work legislation.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall that was reportable under RIDDOR.

All the King's horses and all the King's men (some sort of QUANGO?)

Couldn't put Humpty together again due to public-sector health spending cuts following the recent banking crisis.

Make sure you use buckwheat flour, so I can partake.

I'll bring the sugar and lemon.

Or because of the demise of British Industry and the consequent loss of the major foundries here.

I heard it was actually a siege tower, if so then working at height regulations

http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg401.pdf

and the occupational health and safety act for scaffolding would apply

http://www.gov.pe.ca/law/regulations/pdf/O&01-01-2.pdf

(Also noted was that some of the kings men were not wearing appropriate PPE)

However there is this

http://us.penguingroup.com/static/html/blogs/real-story-humpty-dumpty-albert-jack

which suggests it's actually a cannon

Interesting...dunno if it's been verified?...some people seem to delight in contriving plausable explanations, but that rhyme just doesn't scan..it looks as if the Humpty Dumpty line is an add on...I dunno I'm jus' sayin' .
