Watertight Solenoid Valve

03/18/2010 2:25 AM

i want to watertight a solenoid valve having service of 250 bar air. since this valve is in the water, so when solenoid valve will in shut position then water ingress can be possible into the valve n can damage the actuating circuit of the valve.

how can i solve this problem

looking forward for effective response

- Get a proper rated (IP ) solinoid valve

- House the valve in a sealed chamber

Why is the valve underwater? Would it not make more sense to mount it elsewhere?

There are NEMA and IEC specifications for submersible enclosures, which may vary with depth of submersion. The valve would need to have one (or possibly two) shaft seals to prevent the piped fluid from getting the electric parts, and a gland seal for cable entry into the enclosure.

thanks to all buddies i have Solenoid valve of IP65 n i want to utilize this as an experiment (since IP 68 is used for underwater applications). i m doing pipingwork for a "water park" n they need controlled air supply in a water tank. isn't there any sealing arrangement (besides as suggested) e.g any epoxy or glue type to prevent the electric circuit

Why the solenoid can not be taken out of water as PWS suggested? the outlets can go underwater but why the solenoid?
