ASME VIII Pressure Test

03/22/2010 1:11 PM

Anyone by anychance know for hydrostatic pressure testing in accordance to ASME VIII div 1, what is the time that the test pressure is required to hold for? I can't seem to find that time value as well as the procedures which the pressure must be raised in (e.g. raise pressure to 50% test pressure, then hold for 10 minutes before raising pressure to another 10%)?

Thanks!

Standard Hydrostatic Test in ASME Sect 8, Subsection A, Part UG 99; with requirements for Test Gages in Part 102.

As I recall; the hold time prior to examination is four hours for hydrostatic and pneumatic tests. I know of no requirements for intermediate hold time for standard hydros. For proof tests (Part UG 101 Proof tests to Determine Maximum Allowable Working Pressure) you may find intermediate pressure hold times.
