High Voltage Potting Compounds and Related Machines

Whatever you use must be in some way an improvement over a tin can full of dielectric oil. Shell Diala AX is used in X-ray tubes and transformers quite successfully. If you find materials you describe, don't fail to let the world know. Oil is hard to beat.

We have an adiabatic welding technology used for high-speed encapsulation of gas, fluid, or vacuum. Instead of sealing a container and leaving fill holes that later need to be sealed, the whole container is submerged in the fill media and the lid welded while submerged. This provides rapid and complete filling. Our current model will seal up to 8 linear inches in a few milliseconds, but the technology can be up-scaled.

We have high voltage power supply module up to 5kV, which consists of dc-dc converter/multiplier ckt. I request you to kindly give above information if you have it.

For 5kV design, let me have the power rating and its size and total heat dissipation along with critical dielectric strength need. Normally vacuum system, high dielectric potting compounds of high heat conducting capability and with little or no dimension distortion is required.

Have you tried Silicone potting?

Dear Sir, We have low power HV boards. one with 30microamp @ 2.5kV and other is 10microamp@ 5kV. We have used HV dc-dc converter with small peripheral electronics circuit to manipulate hv output characteristic. Total size of this PCB would be 110mm * 110mm. We would like to test PCB in ultra high vacuum(10 ^ -7 torr) for any degassing, corona discharge etc.Kindly advise.

There are special low degassing potting compounds and you can also encapsulate and get the entire circuit welded in SS Case or other copper case leaving only exit points through ceramic high dielectric strength feed through.

For 5kV you can fill Silicone and wrap it in high voltage electrical tapes.

Which type of insulating material can be used in a sensing transformer for partial discharge test (up to 3 to 4 kv).
