Diversity Factor for PCs

03/29/2010 9:15 AM

Hi every one

I have to design (calculate) a cable size for office building has around 50 PC in it.

What diversity factor should apply for this number.

the input power for each is 8 A (Amper).

The PC's will be running all simultaneously during office hours and so there is no diversity of the PC loads. In this case the diversity factor is 1.

Diversity factor: The ratio of the sum of the individual non-coincident maximum demands of various loads (PC's in this case) of the system to the maximum demand of the complete system.

For just the pc's I would allow the total to be connected 50 x 8 = 400 amps
because, likely, they will also include some ancillaries; printers, scanners, etc?

In the certain knowledge that only "some" of the pc's will connected all of the
time (unused rooms, absentees, broken, etc) I still think it would be unwise for
the number to be "guesstimated" even on the safe side. e.g. for only 40 pc's ?

This (obviously) is not the limit for the building? (With lighting, heating, etc.?)
Only the pc capacity, which would be powered on various ring circuits anyway?

Not much help, just a penny worth.

jt.

Can I have some more Sir........?
