Mouse Problem

04/05/2010 10:50 AM

Hello out there:

I am having problems with both my wireless mouse and keyboard. After and extended idle time the keyboard refuses to respond and the mouse either fails to function or the cursor dissapears all together.

Mouse and keyboard: Logitech MX3200 combination. Fresh bateries in all.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

Computer is a generic self assembled using a Asus P5QL Pro mother board, 4 Gig of RAM and an Intel core 2 Duo at 2.80 GHZ.

I tried the origional drivers, the 64 bit Win 7 drivers from Logitech and native Windows drivers. The results are the same.

It worked fine until Windows 7 went in on a clean install.

Any sugestions?

Make sure all Windows 7 updates are installed.

Check for problems in "Device Manager"

You got the drivers from here? You are using 64 bit Windows 7 right?

Make sure your BIOS is set to allow the machine to be woken up from mouse or keyboard.

Set the computer to sleep but not hibernate.

Your settings in "Power Options" (Control Panel) might be set so that it turns the mouse/keyboard off.

If none of these do the trick, perhaps there is a hardware problem.

Since you are using a wireless mouse and keyboard, your input devices are not connected to the normal points. Maybe you have a USB transmitter through which your wireless devices are communicating.

In sleep mode, depending on your new operating system settings, your computer may be waiting for a signal from your mouse or keyboard through the default connection points and whatever the mouse and keyboard are connected to is shutdown so no input can be received.

Another thing to consider, which was mentioned previously, is the difference between sleep and hibernation. If your wireless transmitter receives its power via USB and your computer is cutting power to the USB port because it is hibernating, then there is no power to the transmitter and since it's not on, it is not receiving signals from your keyboard or mouse.

Just a few things to look at.

Depending on how old these wireless devices are they may have batteries in them. Check and see if they do they may need replacement.

Did anyone notice that they prepared a old Ball mouse in the video but showed the "effects" with a Laser mouse?

This what I call Evil!

Thanks For OFF topic!
