I am looking for contact type to measure the temperature of rotating cylinder.

if i use non contact type while the temperature measured area is moving, i mean rotating , it will give you errorneos readings

What is the ambient temperature?

How hot is the cylinder, approximately?

What does the cylinder do?

How big is the cylinder?

Why is accurate temperature measurement of the cylinder important?

Which part will wear preferentially as a result of contact temperature measurement - the cylinder or the sensor? Does it matter if the cylinder gets scratched or grooved, for example? How long must the sensor survive while it is wearing?

Ambient temperature is 45 degCentigrade

cylinder will be around 45 to 50 deg centi ( Hot Godet steel Rolls)

cylinder will be used to pass the polymer yarns from one section to another with hot circulating oil inside the roller

cylinder is aroun 350mm diameter

accurate temperature measurement is needed to make sure that the elongation of the polymer yarns is under control limits

basically there will not be any wear in the cylinder surface. ofcourse it matters if cylinder get too big scratches

time is 5 to 10 seconds

So, one could measure the temperature of the heating oil passing through instead of the cylinder itself. Any number of commercially-available sensors will do this accurately. Or, one might control the ambient temperature instead and do away with the hot oil system....

Are you trying to measure at a distinct point or points on the cylinder, or do you want an average for the surface temperature?

Just measure the oil temperature at the inlet and outlet connections, and interpolate?

Try Omega. They have many different types of temperature sensors.
