Synchronous Machine

Have anyone of you seen a machine of rated power 70 MW with synchronous speed of 600 rpm?? It is for high head ( more than 800 m) plant with discharge of around 10 cumecs.

With those sort of heads and flowrates, there's every chance it involves moving a lot of water around.

Usually something that big and slow is going to be a synchronous AC motor.

nothing unusual.is it Horizontal or vertical motor.Mostly for such motors vertical motors are used.
