Do you have a copy of the AISI Steel Construction Manual?

Hi

Download a free copy of the programme Beamboy of the net. It simple to use. Enter the various parameters and select any beam. The results will give you the stress, deflection etc., from which you can decide if you need to select a bigger or smaller beam.

Alternately pick up any basic book on shear force and bending moments and put pencil to paper. Its not too difficult.

Regards

Paul
