Single Conductor Interturn Fault

A generator conductor consists of several no of small conductors as in case of water cooled conductors of large generators. Each Small conductor is insulated from other conductors. If this interturn insulation gets damaged, How to detect it?

For larger units either a transverse differential relay or a neutral displacement relay can be used depending upon the system arrangement.
