Instrument Cable

04/19/2010 1:28 AM

I am in process of selecting instrument cable. I want to connect the cable to 110 V dc supply to actuate the relay for the motor. It is possible for me to use single twisted pair, what we use for analog 4-20 mA signal cable for the same in different trench.

Yes, Guvnor, it is possible, though local standards will tell you whether or not it is good practice. Over here we use shielded multi-core cables for switching and shielded single- or multi-pair cables for analog. Also, we like to segregate these two groups of signals from each other and from anything sending heavy power to motors and the like.

What you do, though, might be different, either for good reasons or for no reason at all.
