Frequency

04/25/2010 5:41 PM

Greetings all,

How is frequency regulated during emergency or disturbance condition?

If you mean how is the frequency of a standby generator regulated? Best to the same as the grid power frequency.

I guess you have 50 Hz there. That means a 2 pole generator needs to run at 3000 RPM and a 4 pole generator at 1500 RPM.

This RPM regulation is made possible with fueling the motor, RPM dependent - or with a mechanical flywheel governor or with electronic control or with synchro tachometer generator that controls the flow through a frequency dependent regulator valve.

Dear dv,

Do you mean the radio frequency? In Afghanistan, that should be controlled by your government.

Regards.

"The" radio frequency looks a bit weird in a whole spectrum. Specific frequencies are reserved for the type of use. Check for regulations and frequency bands.

If the machine is running under isolation its own frequecy/speed control can take care by regulating the prime mover(may be steam turbine) during disturbance.

If the machine is sychronised (connected) to the grid, within its safe operating range, will be governed by the grid. Any change in the prime mover input will only change the load on the machine(generator). Beyond the safe limit of operation the machine will get seperated from the grid and work with its speed control, and as an isolated independant machine(may be with its own house load or radial load as the case may be).

System disturbance and emergency operation is a complex question. if you can specify the requirement a detailed answer can be given on that.

Are you referring to the frequency of the heart rate during an emergency or disturbing condition?

(But, why would you ask this question under the electrical engineering forum? There is insufficient data to indicate an electrical/electromagnetic question.)

During an emergency the adrenal gland releases noradrenalin (and adrenaline), and this hormone (a neurosynaptic conductor) will cause the accelerator nerve regulating the heart (during a sympathetic nervous episode) to cause taxacardia (a fast pounding heart beat). This will last about twenty minutes if the stimulus for the emergency is removed.

Other symptoms would include a pale appearance (constriction of the peripheral blood supply), sweating (activation of eccrine glands), elevated blood pressure, stomach cramps/irritation (inhibition of peristalsis), and the lack of ability to cry (inhibition of the tear glands). Also, these may be symptoms of someone lying or planning to do something wrong.

Since you do not specify the frequency of what...

I hear that fiber in the diet helps regulate frequency. Sometimes some people seek help from a laxative in order to get back to their normal frequency in an emergency.

On the contrary, few people need fibre or a laxitive in an emergency, just new undies. If you are prone to run away frequency during emergencies it is best to avoid potential exposure to stressful events by spending the day under a shady tree in the bush.
