Should a CR4 member be loyal to www.globalspec.com

04/28/2010 12:04 PM

I am on CR4 since 2006 however I am not an express poster like many others. But I enjoy reading and writing on it. and also learn a lot. But during all these years I may have gone maximum twice or thrice on parent site www.global.com.

Now the question that comes in mind is, are members/guests obliged not to talk about any direct or indirect completion of www.globalspec.com? also is it an obligation to talk about www.globalspec.com with a positive note whenever it comes in discussion?

I know it is not the part of the terms and conditions for a sign up, But some of the comments of few past discussion tend to me think like this.

Regards

According to the FAQ I don't see why you can't discuss other sites (like the recent discussion about Alibaba).

But outright advertisements or direction to a competitor is probably not such a good idea.

For example - come check out this awesome search over here on Company X! Or... there's a new forum over here!

Those who now post as guests due to past problems with CR4 "old administration team" are not loyal to the parent company for obvious reasons.

I wouldn't go out of my way to bash the parent company, nor would I patronize it.

It would be as though you went to a retail store and was treated poorly by the guard or the registry clerk. That would likewise leave you with a diminished loyalty toward the store generally.

It's human nature. The customer is always right (we used to say in USA).

Today, the customer is not pampered by the store (whether brick and mortar or a virtual store such as this).

I'm sorry you feel that way, Guest.

But I have to ask - if you were treated so poorly that you wouldn't patronize a free site, why are you still here? There must be something about the site that you enjoy.

I got kicked off because I argued with Roger Pink and some others over politics and religion. I now consider it a badge of honor.

I enjoy engineering discussions. If fact, Friday I will be a judge at the State science fair at MIT.

Doesn't mean I would patronize GlobalSpec. I can go across the virtual street to the next store front as I indicated in #2.

Well, we do have something good to offer if our forum is so good that you're still here despite all that. :)

Congrats on being a judge at MIT - that sounds like an honor.
