In the emailed "Stories for ... " digest pages on the left page a "Post Question" space is provided... This is obviously an "ingenious" notion especially if it brings more new or repeat participation. However it is also a service which because it is so subject to user induced malfunction -- read as: wasted time and effort in which due to even the slightest misstep...such as touching an arrow key... the question in progress is sent into oblivion forcing sender to try to repeat what was said from memory and to rewrite the question perhaps more than once over likely leaving many (very many) questions never asked by those who prefer not to have their time wasted by unnecessary programmed conveniences-- probably does much more harm than good - causes more unnecessary effort and inconvenience than it relieves. It has the added convenience (?!) that it is the kind of unwitting error which when things go wrong the perpetrators (programmers and editors) never know ....
So if software means to prevent loss of text cannot be devised then the feature for the most part is at best unnecessary and ought to be eliminated. (I would guess that it is not used often in relative terms anyway so it's highly unlikely it would be missed.) Simply linking to an edit page (to compose post page) as is normally done should be sufficient...and that link could be made by simply entering any first character in the existing "Post Question" box. Agreed that latter idea could cause momentary startle but that would be better than startle and anger after half-developed posts are untimely/unintentionally sent and lost forever.
