RFID in Piping Spool Fabrication

A Google search on "rfid tags cost" turned up quite a bit of information that you might find useful. If the tags are simple (small memory) and ordered in bulk, they may cost as little as US$0.50, but greater complexity and low-volume orders will cost more per unit.

I looked at some of the RFID sites and see that they have so many different ways to identify most any item someone can get a tag attached to. I just can see how installing these things in piping spool pieces would be a benefit to anyone. it is th weld that is usually scrutinized and because of the way most pipe is handled, staged and repaired in the field I would be afraid that most of the tags would not last and/or be damaged until production started on the system.
