This is a physics question. Any textboox on statics will help to develop the power required.

I agree it is possible to predict the power needed with statics although it would be very difficult to predict the affect of: dirt between the load and roller, absorbed energy if the conveyed items have any give at the interface, irregular load surface if the items "bump along" as they go.

Conveyor manufacturers often have very good application information in their catalogues that is based on their experience and calculations. They can tell you how much power per weight unit at a given speed would be required to move certain types of items.

If this doesn't work I would be happy to perform testing. The first thing I need are samples. Please send samples of all types of weighty bullion.
