Slow it Down

05/04/2010 9:25 AM

A researcher at GE is using a high speed camera to catch everyday occurrences in slow motion.

Here's a video of a water balloon popping in slow motion.

If you click over to his blog he's got a bunch more linked up and is looking for suggestions on other things to film.

I think I might like to see someone sneezing :)

One of our customers make high speed cameras, we sell them detectors for low light applications. They have a small gallery of videos here.

We also sell to another company who make cameras for ballistics research, they run at up to 100 million fps. We believe that we make the fastest camera in the world running at 500 million fps but it does not produce streaming video.

Harold Edgerton pioneered this type of work, beginning in the late 1930's. Here a link to some of his work at MIT.
