Start by describing the mode of failure and the circumstances surrounding it. Otherwise the reader has nothing to go on.

Scroll compressors are used in many fields, and recently also in A/C. I have a Atlas Copco 10HP air compressor running in Europe for 15 years without any maintenance. So where is you application?

In broad terms, things fail for 3 reasons;

1. the machine or system was designed wrong

2. the machine or system was installed wrong

3. the machine or system was operated wrong

With more information on how often and the method the compressor has been failing, there is a lot of expertise looking at this site that can fill in some details to how to reduce or eliminate the frequent failures.

The said compressors were installed on a chiller that control the AHU. The protection devices are ok and routine maintenance carried out as specified. Can gas quality cause compressor failure ? we use R407C gas on these compressors.

What is failing? The motor? The scrolls? If the scrolls are attacked, pickled surface, you should check for water in the circuit. Maybe the filter cartridges are saturated. The water becomes acidic and can damage the scrolls. Tell us more?

We removed the compressor and with the oil inside try to powered but one tripped immediately and the other motor humming,We checked the continuity of the coil 0.08ohms in all the three coils and not grounded,The motor protection coil show 290ohms which tally with the reading of working ones.

Are you sure it is a scroll compressor? What is the Make, model and type. The oil, you are talking about, is that according the instructions? Some scrolls run without oil. What is the power rating or size, or displaced volume?

How many of these compressors have failed? All compressors on the same machine?

What part has failed; motor, bearings, rotors, ????

Are in-house mechanics or contractors diagnosing and making the replacements on the bad compressos?

What is the run-time on the compressors?

OK, 3 mechanical jam (I am assuming the scroll?), and 1 motor failure (bearings?)

Does any one know what jammed in the scroll? are there loose or broken items upstream of the compressor?

Is something making noise in the drive train that might be causing motor bearings to fail?

Keep asking and answering questions and soon you will solve this problem.
