Hello Lyn

What's the valve doing? Is it for minimum boiler return temperature control? for avoidance of condensation/corrosion in the boiler.

Cheers...........Codey

Pump protection.

From the Tyco website:

Control Valves

7100 ARC Valve for Centrifugal Pump Protection

The 7100 Series ARC provides the most economical and reliable system to protect pumps from the dangers of low and/or reverse flow. It combines the functions of a check valve, flow sensing device, minimum flow control and pressure letdown into a single valve.

L.L. did a good job in showing you the mechanics of the ARC valve.

Are you cognizant of the need to recirculate when pumping hot water with a centrifugal -force type pump?

You can pump a hot liquid with a centrifugal force.... if and when you reach a no flow or low flow condition that will create a vapor pressure situation that can and will cavitate the pump …. you cant pump a vapor with centrifugal force. The ARC valve prevents a no flow condition.

You can still get in trouble if you over temp the feed tank. So daily monitoring is essential.
