Valves - Attenuator Function

What is an attenuator used in valves and how it works? What is the advantages using

such a device in respect of flow pattern, noise and loss of head?

ACTUATOR you mean. Take it as a motor that is designed to actuate and open/close or modulate the valve via a signal from any controller/switch. Now get a broucher of actuator from your supplier and study it.
