RF in telecom term is use for Base Station Transmitter .For mobile phone GSM and GSM (850 Mhz to 1900Mhz )are using Omni or directional anttena to radiate 360 Deg of coverage where Microwave term are Tx on one diraction point to point frequency from 5Ghz to 30Ghz.
RF is a general term. Ideally, it should cover any frequency that can be transmitted using a conductive antenna (radio wave). These days, that should probably mean frequencies between 1-kHz and a few THz, though that is may be a long way outside what is commonly meant. Microwave is now just a conventional description of frequencies between about 1GHz and 1THz. I believe the origin of the term was that the wavelength was at one time (1930?) too short for these frequencies to be amplified using triode-derived thermo-ionic tubes, but I could very well be wrong on this.
