I strongly suggest you to acquire a copy of this book:

Electrical Design of Medium Voltage Bus bars, Bus Connections & Bus Duct - published by the "Tamilnadu Electrical Installation Engineers' Association "A" Grade, Chennai.

It is the most comprehensive book on bus bars that I have come across.

or

Attend to our 4-days' training programme on Electrical Design of Switchgear Assembly.

Bus bar design depends on various factors like short circuit calculation, ambient temperature, type of enclosure , degree of protection.

The best way of easy calculation is taking a multiplication factor -0.8 for aluminium and 1.2 for copper .Eg:- a 100x10mmAL bus bar will carry 100x10x0.8 =800A while 100x10 copper will take 100x10x1.2=1200A.

Hence depending on connected load of control panel, find the max. current rating and select a bus section

note :- The above is not applicable for bus bar trunking design .refer INDAL aluminium bus bars hand book for tech. parameters on BT designs
