I'd say it depends on the value of the product, but I'd guess 0.1% tops. I have no experience in this field, 'cos I'm a cat.

Irrespective of the product, % yield for bottled foods, drinks, beverages and other related foods should range between 98-100%. Anything below this is not okay.In some cases(beverages) you can have yield above 100% depending on the efficiency of the equipment and operation process.

Your yield% is calculated from the following formula

Yield%=(Actual quantity of goods produced/Theoretical quantity of goods expected)%

As a foreman of a seed packaging plant, we expect nothing less than 98%. I would expect a liquid process to be no less than 99%

Thank you for all the reply.

For a liquid batch would it be acceptable to have a certain overyield? If there is, what %would that be?

Yes, it's possible to have over yield in liquid batches. The base ingredients usually comes with a certain percentages factored in to cover for wastages, spilling, sampling, flushing etc. If the wastage is minimized and controlled as much as possible, you will come up with yield ranging from 101-107%.

In bottling industry where I work, if you control underfilling, crown and caps misapplication, breakages, overfilling, carbonation etc, you will have yields higher than expected.
