The same as turning off ten 100W lights. Do you know what a KW is?

From the web: (Google is your friend)

2000 kilowatts approximate = 1 ton CO2 = 1 Carbon Credit

So using that, saving 1kW earns you approx. 0.0005 carbon credits

But I'm not confident in that number, because carbon credits should be all about energy, not power. So most likely, that should be 2000kWh = 1 ton CO2, so 1kWh = .0005 carbon credits.

I would ask the proffesor that gave you that question if he's really serious, and then change to a course of study more closely related to the real world.

This is a classic Ostrich with its head in the sand reaction. The fallacious logic is " if I don't know about it, it does not exist!". Carbon credits is neither bull nor a political scam. It is an incentive for cutting down greenhouse gas emissions either by switching over to alternate clean energy sources, cutting down power consumption or planting trees. Whether we commercialise it or not, we all owe it to ourselves to earn carbon credits for our own good.

Dhanesh has asked a basic question which definitely does not warrant derision.

You spout derision.

you are entitled to your opinion and so are we. Did you answer Dhanesh question?

Carbon credits is an incentive.....for who? The basis and not what it appears to be......

If you are really serious about reducing your carbon footprint, why do you need carbon credits?

Just do it,

Carbon credits is like a gold star that a adolescent receives in grade school for doing good.....

Or are you keeping score, and treating it like a monopoly game.

And you say its not bull or a political scam??

Has any political leaders used it while still having a vested financial gain from it. Or has hypocrisy just became another political party.

What are you talking about fighting

Being critical and challenging, is what gets you the answers, in CR4 and in industry.

Here in CR4, especially on topics as questionable as carbon credits.

Its members and guests that bring up an opinions but is not willing to defend it when challenged that is disappointing.
