What is the make and model of the engine? How often is it run? Did this problem just start now or has it been getting worse over time? You are referring to engine oil and not fuel, correct? Where is the gen set located-- closed building , outside, Need to know more info. Thanks

where is the oil going ?

is it leaking.

if the rings have worn or broken its possible for a diesel engine to burn the oil as fuel.

you would notice more smoke than normal, also it would smell more.

try giving us more information.

Peter I like your closing expression. It reminds me of another one, "When I'm right nobody remembers, and when I'm wrong nobody forgets". I hope these disclaimers don't discourage the gentleman we're trying to assist.
