Divide and conquer

Would diffusing the pressure not work in getting control of this oil leak?

What would it take to split the flow of oil and gas into two plumes instead of one very powerful plume? If that could be done, then you keep dividing the force of each plume until it becomes manageable.

If a huge dome, similar to the one lowered previously, could be lowered into place, except riddled with ports fitted with valves, might be one possibility. It would sort of be like an air stone in a fish tank.

Or even better how about drilling a series of angled holes within a short distance from the well head and use the earth as the valve body through which we dilute the pressure and the well head until it can be properly capped? You would have several leaks until the pressure was lowered but you would eventally have the ability to cap all of them.
