DC Servo Motor and Generator

06/09/2010 9:11 PM

I'm looking for a DC servo motor that I can shut off and run in reverse and act as a generator.

If accurately controlling the position is not a concern, then any PMDC motor could help you; do a search in Google to find the one for your required voltage and current.

Any brushless DC Servo motor does this, in fact, most controllers for them allow for dynamic breaking and can return the power to the supply. Many electric vehicles use this technology.

Hi,

brushless or not - both are good.

PM: the voltage is directly related by the K-faktor to speed (friction neglected).

K = voltage/2pi*rev/sec = torque (N*m)/current (amperes)

If you need an independent (from speed) possibility to change the voltage then you need a excitation-coil (instead of the permanent magnets).

A cars generator would be the cheapest choice.

If it is brushless then the friction loss will be low.. so obviously efficiency will be more.

HI,

Energy is a non renewable resource which is very useful.
