This according to someone with a lot of time on his hands, Russ Martin.

It also depends on how big the pyramid is.

A jogger in Union Gap, WA, USA, lugs a rock up the hill every day. By now he has built a pyramid about 2m high, easily visible from the highway below. Cost = US$0.00, plus sweat equity.

Let's not even talk about cost of material and equipment. Just the labor, union and insurance costs will kill you.

Do you really expect us to help you with your pyramid scheme !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme

Seriously though, you need to provide more information on the proposed size and location as labour costs are going to be a BIG portion of the costs, and labour laws have changed considerably over the millennia.

As i have absolutely no interest in the cost your after i wont be able to answer, but i have taken the time to look up some links for you to find out.

the below would seem to be the original question taken from http://users.wcvt.com/tiggr/

During this project you will be asked to estimate the cost of building a pyramid using modern materials and ancient methods. In teams you will plan, collect data, submit a bid for the job (only the lowest bidding company will be awarded the job), create a scale drawing and model, and present a final report to the class. Remember to use all of your knowledge learned this year in math, science, and social studies to complete this project. Before you begin, you will be trained to utilize e-mail and other Internet research techniques and tools. Here is the invitation to bid:Invitation to Bid Here are the required calculations for the final report:Required Calculations Here are the final report requirements:Final Report Here is an extra credit option:Extra Credit Each construction team will consist of 4-5 members, each with their own responsibilities. Please specify the size, MOC, location you want it to be built, expected delivery period and the name of the person whose mummy has to be preserved (or is it you only?).

I will send the quote.

Re: Pyramids

Dear Sir,

Would you please quote me one (1) Pyramid, base 150m square, height 150m. MOC to be carved sandstone blocks to within 100mm of the surface; then sheathed on the (4) exposed faces with 100mm thick white marble. There shall be no internal voids that will accommodate a sphere of 10mm diameter. (So you don't even need to hire Incas to do this.) After fabricating in your shop, please ship to Timbuktu. Provide shims to level the base within 10mm throughout, and a theodolite to orient the entire assembly within 0°1'10" of North.

I look forward to your competitive and favourable quotation.

Very sincerely yours,

One Real Weirdo

Hi

Good, it seems that there is good potential for pyramids. Quobaldt already wants it. Now, this is second enquiry. If I get few more equiries hopefully of same size, the cost will be greatly reduced. I think, let me wit for some more enquiries.

(Yet it is not clear, whose mummy is to be put in the pyramid)

Luxor Las Vegas

"When it opened on October 15, 1993, the pyramid was the tallest building on the strip and took 2 years to build and a total of 968 workers;[2] it cost $375 million to build."

But it's only 350 ft. high compared with the great pyramid at 481 ft.

This pyramid was just commissioned. If you write to the organizers, they may give you details.

I had been there a few times during construction and once after wards. The silence inside if deafening.

OMG, you gotta be pulling our legs, eh????

Now, if you are totally serious and want to know the present day cost of constructing a pyramid just like the Great Pyramid of Giza, then I strongly suggest that you first talk to some Aliens and ask them how much it cost to levitate all those extremely heavy blocks of stone for the Pharaoh way back when....I doubt they did it for free! LOL

Have a fun day kid!

Re: Pyramids

06/16/2010 8:38 AM

could not find it in the RS Means construction cost book, but just a quick guess

440 royal cubits x 440 royal cubits x 264 royal cubits = 51,110,400 cubic royal cubits

200,000 man crew at 12 hours per day for 20 years = 17,520,000,000 hours or $788,400,000,000

800 tons of stone per day = 5,840,000 tons = $438,000,000

plus mobilization and final cleanup.

then there's the furnishings.

Obama is the only person I know with that much money

That's $45 an hour: where do I apply?

Re: Pyramids

YUP! That's the RS Means labor rate with all the fringe benefits for a union mason.

I did get the volume wrong though. Seems like, with all those royal cubits in the cyphering, I forgot it was not a cube.

440 royal cubits x 440 royal cubits x 264 royal cubits high = 17,036,800 cubic royal cubits

That makes the pricing (before adding in General conditions, overhead, and profit)

$46,537 per crc

$4,095,238 per sq rc

$135,760 per ton

Quobaldt, where are you?

Even though some answers are definitely tongue-in-cheek, good people here spent time trying to help. If you start a thread, practice good forum manners: If at all possible, revisit your thread in a timely manner and acknowledge those who responded. If some emergency prevents it people understand. But many post questions in these forums and never post another reply, after people have spent time trying to help.

Sorry to other posters here... this just really bugs me at times.
