how can we judge on a CB whether it's an inverse time CB or an instantaneous CB when I get them at hand? How can I differentiate between them by the symbols on the CBs. Please Guys Give me a clue………
You need to study Electrical Standard Symbols for that. Its hard to tell one from another without an SLD or an interconnection diagram in hand. If youre un familiar with CBs i suggest you read SLDs and the symbols used. Then you can look for equipment and see what it looks like...Others will give you a more productive answer. But i hope my advice helps a bit.

Which CB do you mean ? MCB, MCCB, ACB ? That is ... if you are talking about Low Voltage.
Here is the trip curve of a sophisticated microprocessor-based relay of an ACB. The exponential curve indicates an inverse trip characteristic and the vertical line the instantaneous.

You will seldom be able to determine that from the symbol used on the circuit breaker drawings. The symbols are not consistently used by anyone, and drafting standards (as far as anyone "standardizes") vary from source to source. You need to check the manufacturer's data on the particular breaker or its trip unit to determine.
