Before commissioning and during commissioning.

Some activities need to be carried out before commissioning for example complete equipment testing viz. HV, Primary injection. secondary injection etc will be carried out in pre-commissioning stage. Important tests like trip test, mechanical operation etc will be repeated during commissioning stage.

"COMMISSIONING" is putting into service.

And, pre-commissioning is - making the system and/or equipments ready for putting into service.

Dear friend,

PRE-COMMISSIONING refers to the individual equipment trial/testing while there can be several equipments, each with different in-put-output parametres and make ready for commercial production, and make a smooth starting of commercial production and reach the rated capacity.

If this exercise is not conducted, then during commercial production i.e commissioning, the plant has to be stopped - for example, leakages, electrical fault, vaccuum problem etc.

COMMISSIONING refers to OVER-ALL/COMBINED TRIAL and then start Production with raw materials input, and get the end product.

POST-COMMISSIONING - will refer to activities/rectifications to be carried out by taking a planned shut-down of the plant, for different type of problems, in different equipments and fine tune the equipments, and re-start the plant to achieve the targets.
