As an interesting thought.

Just bouncing odd ideas around watching John Wayne movies and I thought 'What if there were a means to TiN coat the Statue of Liberty and polish it out. A golden statue would look pretty darn neat I think.

If you wish to make your own statue, go right ahead.

Might be a way to get this country to remember what the "Lady in the harbor" really stands for.

Which John Wayne movie were you watching? The Nutty Professor? That's not the Duke, lad.

That's not a large scale Oscar sitting out there in NY Harbor guy, it's the sign of Independence, Freedom and the American Way.....an American Icon of much more importance than the Duke ever was (one of my Heroes).

Don't you dare lay a glove on Lady Liberty!

Won't even touch the John Wayne reference.

Want to gold plate Lady Liberty? It would look chintzy (cheap).

However green (but not with envy) she represents something of the strife and perseverance of our country as a people for independence and freedom.

At no time should we have the appearance of being a showplace. In case you haven't noticed, we have been for at least several hundred years (e.g. immigration).

At no time should we have the appearance of being a showplace - too late my friend. At one time we lived in the land of the free, sadly no longer the case with all the government inteventions (big brother really is watching). We do however live in the land of the showplace.

Well, I do not know any method that can do TiN coating without plasma chamber. So if you want to TiN coating of the Statue of Liberty you may have to build very big chamber and power or cut it to pieces to TiN coating

The statu of liberty is made of copper plate sections. It was made this way because the FRENCH had to transport it to AMERICA by sea.

So it may be posible to use a electric polorised plating system to complete this task.

But saying this wouldent it be better to go out there and just polish the statue and return it to it's original condition of polished copper.

Go ahead and get yourself a BIG can of brasso and get started. If you tin plated her she would be kinda dull silver not gold. I like her turquoise patina myself though. Amazing that the salt air hasn't destroyed her before now. Especially with all the connections of dissimilar metals and salt. Probably creates a battery effect. Wonder how many volts she creates? Any of you electrically inclined care to guess?
