I came to know that new structural steel I-beams are made now from A992 which have higher yield strength. I wonder if A36 wide flange beams still available in the market and which one is the cheapest.
The original 50ksi steels couldn't meet some of the A36 requirements, A992 combines them both in one steel. If you order A36, you might get A992, quite legally. I think that angles and tees etc. are available in A36, but I think that beams are all A992, but as with everything, I could be mistaken.
