Keeping The Heat Out of the Shop

07/08/2010 1:04 AM

Awhile back I asked a question about sun screen , shade sails and such to be mounted over my net shop down here in Louisiana to kill the heat inside.

The suggestions and thoughts poured in. I said I would post back after trying some ideas given here.

Big success!

I covered the entire roof with a white , 16 oz. vinyl tarp. I screwed it down directly to the white 26 gauge metal using the rubber gasketed screws and 2" washers.

The inside of the shop now feels just like outside, only a tad bit cooler due to the fans. Its much more comfortable. Its still the same temp give or take but the "radiated" heat by the hot metal roof no longer exists. The fans pull in the outside air and the place feels so good even my hound dogs don't want to leave any more.

Thank you all for your input on this project too.

PS

Yea, i now.....I'll probably lose it the next hurrcane....but at least i know how to kill that dang microwave oven feeling I've been living with for so long.

ce bon.
