2010 hunting season is near, you just harvested a nice deer its skinned, cleaned and your too far from a meat locker.what would be the best way to cool your deer in hot weather?.Is there a way to build a temporary unit using dry ice?.
Basically a frame covered with hessian. At the top the hessian is in a trough of water with a similar trough at the bottom to collect any surplus. (For those not old enough to remember it, hessian is a jute or sisal bag material. Similar materials should be cheaply available. Use cotton or wool as the synthetics don't wet well enough).
The water evaporates from the wet hessian, cooling it.
When I was a kid in the country, this was the only form of cooling available for keeping meat, stopping butter melting etc.
You could readily have a demountable frame in the back of a pick up so this could be set up or dismantled whenever you wanted to.
