Genset Voltages Settings

07/13/2010 1:10 AM

We have 500KVA Kirloskar DG.In that DG,we are getting voltages B/w phase to phase is 415V.Phase to neutral is 238V.Is it possible to set the voltages b/w phase to Ph is 415V & Ph to Neutral is 230V ? Supplier is telling that If we provide 415 volt that time single phase volt will come, 415/1.732 = 239.60V. Pls tell me is is correct / any other way to set the voltages...??

Your supplier is correct that 415/√3 ≈ 239.6 volts. If you insist on getting the star voltage to 230, you will need to regulate the delta voltage to 230√3 ≈ 398 volts. Is there any particular reason you are worried about this?

...........because there is usually a percentage tolerance band on phase voltages for power supply purposes. The reason is that as the load goes up and down, so will the voltage.

Sir,

I hope that there will be an AVR which will regulate the voltage with in 2 %

variation. You can ask the vendor or the manufacturer to set the out put voltage

as measured line to line at the alternator terminals to your requirements.Mr Slack

has given the possible answer.Set @ 400 v.
