This metal is just a little bit stronger than mild steel(EN1 / EN1A) It is used for electric motor armature spindles, but they do not harden it in this application. EN8 can be case hardened. It is also identified by the yellow paint . the hardness is dependent on the type of heat treatment-applied to it, and can be measured in the Rockwell scale A to C, or in a Brinell scale number that can range between 79 and 946. Or you could use a Diamond impression that will range between 2.30 to 4.30. Or did you mean the tensile strength of the metal, how much load it would take before it will bend.
The typical composition of EN8 is: Carbon 0.35 / 0.45, Silicon 0.05 / 0.35, Manganese 0.60 / 1.10, Sulphur 0.06 max, Phosphorous 0.06 max,
CONDITION:
Normalised 830-860 degrees C. Limiting ruling section 6" Diameter.

General information.
A steel to prescribed mechanical properties suitable for Axles, spindles, etc. subject to shock and vibration. For components required hardened and tempered.
I hope this is what you required. All the best with the things you are going to make with EN8.
