Synchronizing Generators

07/18/2010 12:54 AM

Dear Experts, My factory has rented 5 generators @1000kVA. But now they wanted to replace them with 5 generators @1500kVA and bought the old generator control panel (the one that is used for 1000kVA generators, with five units of ComAP Inteligen and one unit SEG Synchronizing unit). Can this GCP be used for the new generators? What modification should be done prior to synchronization? Thank you in advance

just do a dark lamp sync method(which will show you the curve diffrence between L1(G1) L1(G2......G5) to sync all and then connect THEM with the feeder.

If the GCP includes current indication, the associated CT's should be about 1.5x the previous ratio, and the meter dials or programmed range changed accordingly.

GA

I would add: Make sure that the load sharing adjustment is redone on the new gensets, plus check the Governor controls for compatibility with the new engines.

Capacity should not block your sync. planning, just make sure that all your genset are of same make and they shuld accept control from your sync. module. If all gensets are of different make than you might face problem.

Dear Sir,

I have experienced to synchronized the generator with different brand of GCP. It is imposible to do since the difference system. Each brand has plus or minus program each other. Therefor use the same brand for the best result of synchronization even just 2 generator will be synchronize.
