Omron HMI Model NS5-SQ00B-V1

Hi all,

Am planning to use the subject as operator panel station for siemens S7300 PLC, which has a MPI communication protocol, different from the omron which is RS232.

any advice on what com cable to use to have these two communicate with each other?

I must say to you good luck in getting an Omron HMI to talk to a Siemans PLC, I will watch to see how this is done. Normally you require similialar HMI and compatible PLC.

The exception I have found is Maple Systems HMI which apparently can communicate with mostly all PLC's.

Hi Mike L,

Thanks for your concern. But someone in the Omron group suggested by using a cable type XW2Z-500T which will connect to a Simatic HMI adapter part#6ES7-972-0CA10-0XA0. I do not know for sure if this will work since other cable type from Omron also suggested to use NT631C-CN323-EU. Don't know which is which is the real thing.
