Pen Drive Data Corrupt

07/21/2010 6:13 AM

My 16GB Kingsten pen drive contents 4GB of data. But due to mis handling by other person with other PC, the major data suddenly disappeared.

The data is not deleted. But is not visible.

How can I recover my data? Please Help.

A quick internet search of "usb stick data recovery" produced a number of results including a lot of software such as the following example

http://www.recoverdata.in/recovery-data/memory-stick-data-recovery-utilities.html

Most of the links seem to be software (a lot of it is free), but there should be some articles in there somewhere too if the software option doesn't work.

is it an encrypted device? (ie: blackarmor) if so, you need to run the boot application, and log in.

if not, follow the other post advice here, and do a data recovery on it.

Use the freeware "Recuva".

If you cannot find it on the web, just let me know and give me your "normal" email address BUT ONLY via the CR4 email and I will send you a copy.

Thank you all for the nice help.

the Recuva seems good.

But, unfortunately, all the data could not be recovered. As per Recuva result shown, more than 90% files are unrecoverable.

Anyways I'll manage.

Thanks to you all.

Try these to recover the partition table information:

testdisk www.cgsecurity.org
mbrwork www.terabyteunlimited.com

Both are free to download and use. Read instructions carefully so as not to
cause further damage.

Never lend out data that you don't have safely somewhere else......its a simple but effective rule.

Also, if you had given him a CD copy, he would have had more difficulty in corrupting the data.....CDs are very cheap, USB sticks are not quite as cheap as of now....
